We’re finally launching our beautiful, ultra-local yarn made from the sheep at Kulerød Farm.
We’ve spun the yarn in six natural colors from Matilde's sheep: white, off-white, medium grey, light grey, and dark grey.
If you’re looking for super-soft and ethical yarn for knitting or needlebinding, this yarn from our very happy sheep is a lovely choice for sweaters, mittens, hats, and other warm wool items.
If there’s enough interest, we’ll spin some more and offer knitting kits next year!
The sheep at Kulerød have access to large outdoor areas all year and live their absolute best lives. They love people and are completely tame. Most of them are clicker-trained (which is incredibly helpful for handling, especially during vet visits or hoof care), and some of the wool in this yarn was hand-shorn. We don’t run any kind of sheep production - we simply spin the wool when the sheep are clipped - and we hope you’ll enjoy yarn made from this beautiful fleece!

Some sheep fact you may not know
- Sheep are intelligent animals and can remember up to 50 different people for several years
- They can recognize different human facial expressions
- Many sheep love being scratched and cuddled, and if they trust you, they may even lie down in your lap
- Sheep form strong social bonds and are deeply attached to their flock
- They can solve many kinds of problems and learn from each other’s behavior
- Sheep need to be shorn 1-2 times a year so their wool doesn’t felt against their skin, since their natural ability to shed has been bred away.
