Our Ragnar trousers are reconstructed based on finds from Thorsberg, Denmark. Amazingly, the pair of trousers that was unearthed in Thorsberg were almost completely preserved, making this reconstruction a relatively certain one. This style was popular in the Viking Age, but could also be found in earlier ages. Scientists speculate that the design of these trousers was constructed to avoid tearing while in battle. This pattern will help you make a pair of trousers with maximum stretch and durability.
We recommend using wool to achieve a more authentic look. However, modern vikings may prefer using cotton for warmer days. Due to not having buttons or zippers, these trousers must be worn in combination with a belt or a tie-string. The woollen and cotton pants are of the same design.
