Thora is based on a trefoil fibula found at Tranby in Buskerud, Norway. Originally a strap divider for swords in the Roman and Carolingian empires, the Vikings converted the trefoil design into a very popular ornament worn centred on a woman’s dress, or to close light cloaks.

This fibula is in a transitionary style between the Borre and Jelling styles and measured 8 cm. This replica measures 5,2 x 5,2 cm and features a sturdy pin thick enough to hold even very thick cloth such as felted wool.
